Join us on January 21 for our Public Roundtable – your chance to help shape Halton’s future

Every four years, in consultation with stakeholders, Regional staff and Council work together to develop a plan that sets out our priorities and establishes a strategic direction for the four-year term ahead.

We launched our first ever Citizens’ Reference Panel in 2010. Panellists were provided with information about Halton’s programs and services, trends and pressures faced, as well as information about how decisions are made at the regional level. Panellists used this knowledge to contribute their thoughts and opinions on Halton’s Citizens’ Priorities 2011-2014 Action Plan.

In December 2014, we once again invited Halton residents—through a random selection process—to participate on a new Citizens’ Reference Panel and provide their feedback for our Strategic Action Plan 2015-2018. The 36-member Panel was randomly chosen from among those who responded to an invitation that was sent to 10,000 residents in December.

The new Panel will meet on January 17 and January 31 and Panellists will also attend a Public Roundtable Meeting, open to the public, on the evening of Wednesday, January 21.

At the Public Roundtable Meeting, all Halton residents are invited to join us for an opportunity to meet staff, talk with members of the Citizens’ Reference Panel, review our draft Action Plan and provide comments. The Roundtable Meeting will be held in the Auditorium at the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

There will be a short presentation from Halton staff followed by small facilitated discussions where participants will work with members of the Citizens’ Reference Panel.

I invite you to attend the Public Rountable Meeting and to provide comments to contribute to the Panel’s recommendations on Halton’s action plan for the next four years. You can register to attend the meeting at Halton.ca/PRM or by dialing 311.

If you are unable to attend, I encourage you to review our draft plan and provide us with your comments online using our online feedback form.

The Public Roundtable is a great way to hear first-hand what the Citizens’ Reference Panel has been working on, get a better understanding of Halton Region’s strategic planning process and make your views known.

Working together, we can shape a bright future for Halton and ensure our Region remains a great place to live: resident focused, well planned, safe and healthy.
