Halton named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers

It is with great pride that I am able to announce that Halton Region has been recognized as one of the top employers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for the second year in a row.  Being an employer of choice is one of the top priorities in Halton’s Citizens’ Priorities 2011-2014 Action Plan, and this designation is something that all of our Regional employees should be very proud of.

GTA Top Employer 2013

The annual Greater Toronto’s Top Employers competition is managed by Mediacorp Canada and recognizes employers that lead their sectors in areas such as health, financial and family benefits; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.  This is the third time in four years that Halton has been given this acknowledgement, a true testament to the great work of our Regional employees.

At Halton we work very hard to attract, retain and engage the best that the workforce has to offer. By ensuring that we provide our staff with a safe, challenging and rewarding workplace, we are able to retain the very best talent available so that we can provide the residents and businesses of this area with excellent programs and services.

Halton’s Regional staff is diverse; not only in their backgrounds, but in the work that they do every day. Our 2,565 employees provide a wide variety of services, many of which you may not even be aware of.  From the time you wake up in the morning, to the moment you go to bed at night, our staff is working hard to provide residents with clean drinking water, safe roads, childcare services, services for seniors, waste diversion programs, public health programs and so much more. If you would like to learn more about any Halton government service, or are interested in learning more about employment opportunities at Halton Region, please dial 311 or visit www.halton.ca.

On behalf of Regional Council, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Regional employees for their hard work and dedication. We are truly fortunate to have employees who commit their time and talent to the people that they serve. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and it is because of you that Halton Region continues to be a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire. Thank you.
