Congratulations to the winners of Wise Outdoor Water Use Contest

In June, Halton Region and Sheridan Nurseries invited residents to enter to win one of three Wise Outdoor Water Use prize packages as part of Halton’s Outdoor Water Use Program – Know Your Colour, Know Your Limits – which asks residents to be mindful of their outdoor water use during the summer months.

The Wise Outdoor Water Use Contest experienced a record number of entries from residents this year with more than 1100 submissions.  With the hot, dry summer we’ve had, it is encouraging that so many residents were willing to pledge their commitment to reduce their outdoor water use at a time when water consumption often doubles.

Contest winners were randomly selected from all of the entries received. This year’s Wise Outdoor Water Use Contest winners are:

Frank Wielinga from Georgetown who is the winner of the grand prize package valued at over $3,225. The grand prize included an At-Home Master Landscape Design Plan from Sheridan Nurseries, a $2500 Sheridan Nurseries gift card towards the purchase of drought tolerant plants, two gardening guides and an outdoor watering toolkit.

Stefan Smeja from Burlington who is the winner of the second prize package valued at over $1155.  The second prize included an In-Store Landscape Design Sketch from Sheridan Nurseries, a $1000 Sheridan Nurseries gift card towards the purchase of drought tolerant plants and an outdoor watering toolkit.

Kathy Mergulhao from Oakville who is the winner of the third prize package valued at over $975.  The third prize included an In-Store Landscape Design Sketch from Sheridan Nurseries, a $750 Sheridan Nurseries gift card towards the purchase of drought tolerant plants and an outdoor watering toolkit.

Congratulations to the contest winners, and to each of the 1100 people who entered. Your efforts to conserve Halton’s water help to keep our community a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
